Seattle Tunnel 2019
Starting 2019 off with a Bang!
February 2nd, 2019, SEALUG members participated in the opening ceremonies for the new 2 mile tunnel running underneath downtown Seattle by creating a 20 foot long x 4 foot wide MOC of the waterfront. Included in the MOC are 10″ high lighted tunnel decks running the entire length on one side.
After the success of the LEGO 520 Bridge Grand Re-Opening project, the DOT contacted us to participate in the tunnel project. Initial discussions began May 8th 2018. Approximately 500 hours went into the build as well as roughly 50K parts.
The MOC of the Seattle waterfront and tunnel was led by Shawn and Lara Steele, and team, Laurel Lee Steele, Nyssa Rogers, Dough Werr, Lyn Werr, Melissa Kiser, Marci Hollingsworth and David Hensley. Additional help was provided by, Emily Werr, Alice Finch, Ben Harpold, Merelee Knott, Brandon Jones, Dan Raensteam, Clark Matthews, Lara C, Michael Yerkovich, Jill Yerkovich, Michelle Woodhouse and Hans Korve.
The free event ran for 8 1/2 hours and was open to the public. An estimated 5000 visitors came by to view the fantastic MOC.
Thank you so much for representing SEALUG by showcasing your amazing talents!
