The first weekend of January, several SEALUG members attended BricksLA 2018 in Pasadena, California. BricksLA is an intimate, fun, and lively event that has been held in the LA area for four years, and is about a third of the size of BrickCon.
This year’s event was a hit and BricksLA saw public attendance double from last year, with more AFOLs and MOCs than ever. A lot of fun was had with numerous games, seminars, and the opportunity to meet other Adult Fans of LEGO®. SEALUG members had the chance to meet AFOLs from California, Nevada and elsewhere, and connect with existing friends from other out-of-state LUGs.
SEALUG members took home three trophies, including; Best in Show: Canadian Winter Village by Dave Schefcik, Terri Landers & Wayne Hussey; MOC of Note: Benny and Rocket Boy by Robert and Kelli Eastman; and Space / Mecha 2nd Place: Haakon VII Royal Transport by Steven Stelter.
The day after, several SEALUG members participated in “Brick Day” at Disneyland for a day of Pacific Northwest-like wet weather, rides, food and fun. The highlight of the day was using Joshua Gay’s arm as a selfie stick for the entire group.
BricksLA 2018 was a success, and SEALUG took top honors. Let’s see if we can continue the success through Bricks Cascade 2018 in Portland next month!
