Stuff:
There was much food.
Currently, the shelves are rather empty of product. Wal-Mart is
resetting next week and everyone should be getting 2010 product in.
2010 sets are out and several were at the meeting.
Fred Meyer and Wal-Mart are clearancing product.
People brought stuff, including Rick M.'s Tadpole, Brandon's
spaceship and Halo segment, Lino's '66 Ford Galaxy, Justin M.'s steam
locomotive, Iain's Mike Wazowski, Dave's Blue Castle, and Roger's
superbricks.
There are apparently a couple of really good Lego commercials out
there for people with TVs.
Six people drafted set 8188 Fire Blaster and seven people
participated in a Dirty Brickster.
LUGBULK
LUGBULK is a program by LEGO (specifically, Jan Beyer, who last I
heard was the European version of Steve Witt), recently broaded to most
Lego Users Groups, for getting out bulk bricks. Basically, eligible clubs
can buy active elements in multiples of 50 (of each element) with up to 50
different types of elements represented in an order (minimum LUG order
5000 Kroner). Q elements and licensed elements are excluded and elements
are for member constructions only, not resale.
To be eligible, clubs must meet certain criteria, including having
done two events in the past year, having a website with a descriptive page
(like
http://sealug.org/about_sealug
), etc. Steven Walker has volunteered to be our contact person with Jan
for the LUGBULK program.
Many questions about the program remain; hopefully they will be
answered after Steven gets us in the program. Our main questions, of
course, is "What parts are available and how much do they cost?"
Apparently, Jan doens't even have an eligible part list available yet
(he's not even letting us look at 2010ElementSurvey.xls and figure out
what's licensed---hopefully we will find out what Q elements are someday).

March Meeting:
Host: Steven Walker (Snohomish)
Proposed drafts for March and April were 8086 Droid Tri-Fighter

and 5982 Smash 'n Grab
http://guide.lugnet.com/set/5982
There is a need for hosts from the south (ideally, we trade off
north/south every month). If people are worried about fitting 20--30
people in their house, other venues are available. In particular, the
KCLS, PCLS, and TPL systems have free meeting rooms available to
cardholders, with reservation. Anyone southerly who would like to host,
say, April should try reserve a room before the March meeting and, upon
securing it, announce that to SEALUG.
